Bugiri is a highly populated district in the Eastern part of Uganda. The fertile soils and favorable climate make this area very suitable for agriculture. With the larger population the spread of diseases such as Cholera,HIV, malaria, etc., the lack of education due to the inability to pay school fees and the missing knowledge of how to farm the rich soils, have all lead to the need for KKF and KYFI to assist the people of Bugiri.
KKF has opened an office to coordinate the donation of clothing, registering children that require school fees, identifying other needs and ways to assist. Clothing and a sewing machine have been distributed to the Bugiri community.
The sewing machine is being used to educate and give skills that will lead to employment.
Other projects that are being developed for the near future are teaching the skills needed for agricultural farming, more clothing and book donations, programs to pay for school fees.
